3CX Mobile Device Manager is a platform to manage, secure, and track your mobile devices that access and store confidential corporate data.

What is 3CX Mobile Device Manager

3CX Mobile Device Manager is a platform to manage, secure and track your mobile devices. Mobile devices connect to corporate applications and have access to or store confidential corporate data. As mobile devices are used by more and more staff, it is imperative that these devices are managed and controlled.

Security

3CX MDM secures your mobile devices by:

Enforcing a strong password policy

Remote locking phones when they are being misused

Wiping corporate data off phones when they are lost or the employee leaves the
company.

Furthermore, Mobile Device Management allows administrators to monitor for rogue / malware apps being installed on phones which could compromise corporate data. Also, with GPS and WiFi tracking, you can retrieve a lost or stolen device.

Monitor Data Usage & Calls

MDM also helps companies monitor data usage and call costs. If employees aren’t using their bandwidth to the full or are using too much, the company can change the data-plan accordingly. Likewise, detailed call logs show administrators whether employees are making too many unnecessary calls. With this information, companies can reduce time employees waste as well as
their phone bills.

App Deployment

MDM helps companies manage the applications on the devices. By remotely installing apps, companies avoid the hassle of having to manually install them, which can take a lot of time, especially if employees need assistance. Applications that connect to confidential company databases that companies don’t want to be made public, can be deployed without needing Google Play or Apple Appstore, which can be a time intensive task.

Reports show which apps are installed on each device, allowing easy monitoring for malware or inappropriate apps that waste company time, bandwidth or open up a company to legal issues. The version of approved apps that employees have installed can also be seen in order to ensure apps are all up to date.

Find & Track Devices

Track the routes your staff take to ensure they are using the most efficient routes when visiting customers and send them pinpointed locations via Google Maps. In case a phone is lost or stolen, it can be located.

The 3CX MDM console allows you to see the location of registered devices over time. For example, one device traveled between Buffalo and Albany over the weekend.

Platform Independent

3CX MDM is platform independent. It works with Android smartphones and tablets, iOS based devices such as iphone and ipads and soon Windows 7/8 devices and soon Windows 8 phones. Platform independence is crucial as few companies use just one type of device.

Cost of Manually Managing Devices in Business

Manually managing mobile devices is not an option. According to Gartner, companies spend on average $2,500.00 per year manually managing a single device. UK Internet Service Provider, Timico, conducted a survey which showed that 42.5% of companies in the UK spent up to 5 hours each day manually managing mobile devices. 14% of these companies spend one working day per week managing their devices.

ComputerWorld stated that a recent study revealed two out of three companies are struggling in terms of not only defining but enforcing IT and business policies around mobile devices. The study also showed that 28% of companies surveyed reported a data breach because of a mobile device. The conclusion is that mobile device management is the best way to centrally secure and manage mobile devices.

Editions Available

3CX Mobile Device Manager is available as either a hosted or an on site edition.

Hosted Version

3CX Mobile Device Manager is available in a hosted edition which allows you to manage your devices in the cloud. You will pay a six or twelve month subscription fee based on the number of devices that you are managing. This includes support, maintenance, and system upgrades.

The hosted edition of 3CX MDM offers:

Support from 5 to 5000 devices

Fully redundant data centers

High availability (HA)

Easy to deploy

No significant investment

All software maintenance is handled by 3CX

On-site Version

3CX Mobile Device Manager can be deployed, managed, and maintained completely on-premise. You can choose to use dedicated or virtualized hardware or install it together with other enterprise apps. You will retain full control of the data being collected.

On-site customers purchase a software server license, based on the number of devices being managed. The software license includes one year of software updates. After the first year, you may purchase maintenance which ensures you continue to get free updates to the software.

The On-site version:

Is designed to run on virtual or non dedicated environments.

Is Windows based, therefore easy to manage.

Has a .NET, SQL architecture

Scales to support up to 100,000+ devices

Tight integration with enterprise services

Allows complete control over hardware and software

Allows full control of corporate data, no data is transferred off-site

Will be available in June 2013

The SmartNode Enterprise Session Border Router (ESBR) product line provides advanced features that specifically address the growing hosted IP telephony market.

The SmartNode Enterprise Session Border Router (ESBR) product line provides advanced features that specifically address the growing hosted IP telephony market. As IP PBX and Unified Communications platforms continue to grow in popularity, there is now a growing need for customer premise equipment (CPE) providing prioritized voice, SIP normalization, transcoding and security. The SmartNode ESBR fills this need in a powerful and cost-effective manner that makes it a very desirable addition to any IP telephony and unified communications setup.

The SmartNode ESBR series is NOT a Session Border Controller (SBC). SBC’s support a very wide range of options and features required at the edge of the service provider’s network – the SmartNode ESBR was not designed to function in that manner. In fact, some of the more advanced SBC functionality will never be required at the customer’s premise. The SmartNode ESBR encompasses only the necessary functionality typically found in far more expensive SBC devices. By eliminating these unnecessary functions, the Patton ESBR can compete VERY favorably from both a performance and price standpoint as a CPE device.

The Patton ESBR performs three necessary functions at the customer premises edge. These functions are:

Transcoding

SIP Back-to-Back User Agent (B2BUA)

SIP Registrar

Transcoding

Transcoding is the term used for converting one CODEC to another CODEC. This is important for several reasons:

IP telephony implies the use of a LAN for telephony communications at the customer premises because of little or no bandwith constraints. After all, LANs operate at either 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps so there is no need for a low bandwidth compressed CODEC on the LAN side.

However, when the IP telephony call leaves the customer premises and goes onto the WAN, bandwidth now becomes a concern. Instead of a 100 Mbps LAN, the transport medium may operate at 2-5 Mbps which is far less than the LAN. Let’s say we have a 2 Mbps line and we want 30 calls to be transported across the WAN connection along with data. The LAN telephony uses a G.711 CODEC that requires 100 Kbps PER CALL. There is no possible way to fit 30 calls using G.711 over the WAN connection. However, if we transcode the G.711 to G.729 that utilizes 24 Kbps per call, we can now transport 30 calls over the 2 Mbps line and still have over 1 Mbps available for data. If transcoding is performed by the SBC that typically sits at the edge of the service provider’s network, and not transcoded back upon entering the customer’s network, the call quality will suffer.

Transcoding is available on the SN5480 and 5490, and license upgradable on the SN4980 and SN4990.

SIP Back-to-Back User Agent (B2BUA)

There is a major problem in the wide selection of IP PBXs available on the market today, and this number is growing every day. And even though each IP PBX provider says they are SIP standards based, each system does something different with the SIP protocol – all SIP IP PBX systems are NOT equal. This means the service provider must have a unique soft switch/ SBC profile for EACH type of IP PBX system which ties directly to operations and maintenance costs.

The solution for this problem is to insert a device between the IP PBX and the service provider softswitch/SBC that isolates the two systems while arbitrating the differences between the two systems. This is done in the Patton ESBR with a SIP Back-to-Back User Agent. This device will receive SIP requests from the customer premises equipment and reformat the SIP to meet the requirements of the service provider softswitch/SBC. No matter what vendor IP PBX is used at the customer premises, the SIP presented to the service provider softswitch/SBC is ALWAYS the same, eliminating the need for individual service profiles for each vendors IP PBX.

The SIP B2BUA also provides a clear point of service for the ITSP with a high voice quality level. The end user will have a protected network at the customer premises blocking unwanted intrusion on his infrastructure.

SIP Back-to-Back User Agent is available with all Patton SmartNode Gateways and VoIP Routers

SIP Registrar

Hosted IP telephony is becoming more and more popular among ITSPs, resellers, and users alike. One obstacle to IP Hosted PBX deployments is that most SIP phones require registration to some type of softswitch/SBC to be able to function. Most SBCs on the market today support a SIP registrar function to allow SIP devices to continue operation in the case of a softswitch failure on the Service Provider’s backend. However, if the connection between the customer’s premise and the Service Provider’s SBC is interrupted, the SIP phones will not be able to reach the softswitch/SBC to registrar and will not function. The solution for this problem is to move that SIP Registrar functionality to the customer premises, and eliminating the uncertainty of the connection between the customer premises and the Service Provider’s SBC. By complimenting the SBC functionality with the Patton ESBR that supports SIP registration from the customer premises, all SIP phones will be able to operate locally without the broadband connection by registering with the Patton SmartNode ESBR.

The SIP Registrar functionality is also excellent for IP PBX installations and insures operation of the IP phones in the case of a failure in the IP PBX.

The SIP Registrar is available on the Patton SN5200, SN5480, and SN5490. The SIP Registrar is optional on all SmartNode Gateway-Routers

Besides the specific ESBR features shown above, the Patton ESBR devices contain all the standard features found on all SmartNode products, including:

Fraud Protection

Bandwidth Management

FAX over IP

VRRP (Virtual Router Redundancy Protocol)

Survivability

Downstream QoS

Ease of Configuration and Management

Video Support

Microsoft Lync Certification (pending for the ESBR)

The functions of transcoding, SIP B2BUA, and SIP Registrar, without the bloat of unnecessary SBC features, make the Patton ESBR Series the ideal products to place at the edge of your customer’s network. The higher quality and consistency of calls to your customer’s premise is guaranteed by prioritized voice, SIP normalization, transcoding, and QOS will keep your customers happy and your conversations clear.

3CX launched of its new free 3CX Certification Program, which is designed to give 3CX Partners knowledge they need to sell, deploy and support 3CX Phone System.

3CX, developer of the award-winning Windows VoIP PBX 3CX Phone System, announced the launch of its new free 3CX Certification Program, which is designed to boost 3CX Partners’ productivity and profitability by giving them the resources and knowledge they need to sell, deploy and support 3CX Phone System to their clients.

3CX Delivers its Partnership Promise with FREE Training and Certification Programs

Where other PBX companies view their partners as profit-centers and charge them thousands of dollars to gain a level of certification, 3CX shows its true commitment by providing physical and online training free of charge to its thousands of partners worldwide!

3CX has two new certification levels – the 3CX Certified Engineer and 3CX Advanced Certified levels, with the company providing a complete series of online training videos which gives 3CX Partners all the information they need to prepare for both levels. Coupled with the already popular 3CX Partner Training Events which are free and held worldwide, 3CX is totally committed to assisting in the development of its partners without charging them a penny.

“3CX empowers its partners to increase their revenue by providing additional ways to differentiate themselves, whilst increasing the profitability of each install”, said Nick Galea, 3CX CEO. “3CX Partners can gain both levels of certification absolutely free of charge, unlike some of our competitors that charge their partners anywhere from $1,000 to $5,000!”

Handle Larger and More Complex Installations as a 3CX Certified Partner

Being 3CX Certified is a significant differentiator over other non-certified partners as certified partners are able to handle larger and more complex installs due to a better understanding of 3CX Phone System. This leads to more profitable installations and Certified 3CX Partners can earn more service revenue from happier customers.

“Certification is a key process to becoming a 3CX Premium Partner. When dealing with clients on every level we have found the training and certification provided by 3CX to be invaluable. Without the 3CX training and certification we would be searching for answers to simple VoIP and SIP issues every day, let alone questions specific to 3CX.” –Bruce Kreeger – Clarity Technology – 3CX Premium Partner.

Upon passing each certification level, 3CX Partners are awarded with a new 3CX certificate and a 3CX Certified Engineer or 3CX Advanced Certified logo. 3CX gives the rights to the newly certified partners to use their certification logos on their websites and office stationery such as business cards and letterheads and thus distinguish themselves by promoting the fact that they have gained 3CX Certification.

“Being a certified partner and a certified professional gives you a leg up on the computer shop down the street. We proudly display the certified partner logos on our site. It gives you credibility with both existing owners and new sales prospects.” – Jim Green – Pacific Softcom – 3CX Preferred Partner.

3CX ensures its Certified Preferred and Premium partners gain maximum visibility by appearing in the Find a Reseller section on the 3CX website, which is a significant resource of new customers. Also, all 3CX Partners that become a 3CX Certified Engineer will receive a free 3CX branded cap or polo shirt and many partners are already wearing their 3CX gear proudly.

Your 3CX Certification Starts Here

Prepare for both certification levels by watching the 3CX Online Training Video Courses, which provide 3CX Partners with an overview of all the expertise and know-how they will need to successfully pass the 3CX Certified Engineer and 3CX Advanced Certified levels.

SIP Trunking is a hot topic in today’s evolving telecommunications marketplace. Sangoma has the right products to enable and secure this connectivity.

SIP Trunking is one of the hottest topics in today’s evolving telecommunications marketplace.

Whether customers are looking to capture the savings of SIP Trunks by directly connecting them to an IP-PBX or by connecting them to a legacy PBX, Sangoma has the right products to enable and secure this connectivity. A small investment in Gateways and Session Border Controllers can have a payback of less than six months and can create a continuing ROI unmatched by any other technology investment.

Connecting SIP Trunks to an IP-PBX:

The Vega SBC Line provides the security, Quality of Service (QoS) and Quality of Experience (QoE) that every enterprise demands.

Connecting SIP Trunks to a Legacy PBX:

Combining a Vega Media Gateway with a Vega SBC is an ideal solution for SIP enabling a legacy PBX. This same combination can be used with other legacy solutions, such as UC platforms, contact centers or IVR Systems.

SIP Trunking reduces communications costs:

Use a single internal network for both voice and data services

Optimize the use of bandwidth as both voice and data services can be delivered over the same connection

Achieve greater flexibility in purchasing voice capacity

Enable flexible routing of calls to preferred carriers — route calls to local, LD or SIP Providers based on real-time cost data

Lower operating costs of both Legacy and IP-PBX systems

Centralize voice services for all branches

Get the most from your PoE cable drops and interface with analog paging systems with CyberData's latest products.

CyberData is pleased to announce that after much anticipation, both the 2-Port PoE Gigabit Switch 011187 and SIP Paging Adapter 011233 have begun shipping this week!

Get more from your PoE ports

The CyberData 2-Port PoE Gigabit Switch 011187 is powered from a single 802.3at or 802.3af network switch and passes that power through to one or two of the downstream switch ports.

In the most common office scenario, one of the Gigabit downstream ports can drive a VoIP phone directly with PoE and the other Gigabit port can be connected to a user’s PC. No external power supplies would be required.

The CyberData 2-Port PoE Gigabit Switch 011187 is particularly handy when you need to connect two devices to your network from a single cable drop. The CyberData 2-Port PoE Gigabit Switch 011187 allows you to avoid running more cabling or bottle-necking the speed of the connected devices down to 10/100Mbps with a legacy PoE switch.

Features

2-port auto-negotiating (no cross or cable required)

10/100/1000 full duplex (PoE-powered)

Link/Status and connection speed LEDs

RoHS compliant

Interface with Analog Paging Systems

The CyberData SIP Paging Adapter 011233 is a VoIP endpoint that interfaces analog paging systems with SIP and Multicast-based audio sources.

The CyberData SIP Paging Adapter 011233 can be configured to support up to 10 separate SIP extensions. SIP extension #1 passes audio through to the analog output spoken from the caller’s handset.

When called, SIP extension #2 plays a bell audio that can be used as a night ringer when configured in a night ring group.

The remaining eight SIP extensions will play a user-uploaded audio message file when called directly or when they are a part of a ring group.
