Question Snom M3 with Trixbox Pro

I am looking for some incite on setting up a M3 with trixboxpro. I have a softphone setup in the server and am trying to use that. I'm not sure on all the fields on the identity page. Any help will be great. The person that helps me get this working I will send a pint of my home made pure Maple Syrup made here in CT!

    Hey Chris,

First watch this video: http://www.voipstore.com/configuring...h-trixbox-pro/ - it will show you how to configure the snom 3xx series with trixbox Pro. Configuring the M3 is very similar to this, and this video will help.

    In a nutshell:

    In trixbox Pro CP Panel:
    - Under Extensions click "Phones" - now add a Phone by entering the MAC of your snom M3, and for vender just choose "Other".
    - You will see that the phone will now show under Devices, and has a "SIP Username" and "SIP Password" these are very important.
    - Also take down at the top of the phones page it will say "Your server address for local phone is sXXXXXX.trixbox.fonality.com"

Now that you have added a voip snom m3 phone, we need to assign it to an Extension on your trixbox phone system.

    - Under Extensions click "Add Extension" - now fill out the users info, name etc etc...
    - Where it says "Phones / Devices" assign it to the phone we created in the steps above. This will tie the Extension to that Device.

    Configure snom M3 Phone:
    - Open this page - http://wiki.snom.com/Snom_m3/Configu...User_Interface - and read it
    - Enter the IP of you phone into an internet browser on a PC on the same network
    - Use the username of "admin" and password of "admin" to gain access to the page
    - Click on "Identity 1"
    - Set Display name to whatever extension you assigned this phone to in trixbox control panel
    - Set account to the "SIP USERNAME" we found in the first steps
    - Set password to the "SIP PASSWORD" we found in the first steps
    - Set "Registrar" to the server address we found in the first steps
    - Set "OutBound Proxy" to the server address we found in the first steps
    - Click "SAVE"! then reboot the phone

You should be good to go now, and in your trixbox control panel if you click "View Extensions" under the Extensions tab you should see the status is "Green".

Hope this helps, let us know if you get stuck anywhere, but watch the video and read my steps carefully.

    Thanks.

    Exclamation Thanks

Thank you for this information. This essentially is what I have already done. There is one problem. I have a system through the Dell/Fonality partnership. It is 99% the same as trixbox pro except that I don't have an option to add a phone manually. They self provision or I add softphones to the system and use those credentials. That is what I have done. Its called SOFTPHONE001 and I have the SIP password for it. I have no way to add the MAC from the M3 to the system though or is that just for ID purposes in Trixbox? I stand by my Maple Syrup offer still!

Well...its not 99% the same as trixbox Pro when it comes to provisioning phones. So long as you have the SIP account and password for the softphone you can configure any phone to work. You do not need to enter the mac address, just go to the M3 and use SOFTPHONE001 as the SIP User ID and you will be fine.

BTW: Kerry likes Maple Syrup more than Mike does

OMG Kerry, I was trying to get Todd in sales to connect me with you! I wan to invite you to CT for a vacation on me. DO you know of a way to reset the M3 to factory settings? My co-worker and I have been trying all different things and now I am afraid we may have changed to many settings and I don't know whats should be what now. I have tried everything you guys have been telling me here but no result yet. I will up the reward to two bottles! not to mention when I confirm the M3 working with the system we will be buying 3-4 more and a bunch of repeaters. Any chance I can give you my number or Todd in sales has it, so I can get a shipping address for the syrup ;-)

Let's try a few things first...

Do you have the most current firmware? If you, do a factory reset like this:

I am trying to find my M3 and see if I can confirm some of the settings.

3CX makes an iPhone VoIP Phone that's very good... It was made by another phone system manufacturer but uses open SIP standards so should work just fine with trixbox.

    Try this:

3CX Users that want to register 3CXPhone for Android from an external location can modify a parameter in the custom parameters table of the 3CX Management console (Settings/Advanced/Custom Parameters) “ALLOWSOURCEASOUTBOUND”. Set this to 1 and you will receive 2 way audio upon successful registration. However this might have a negative effect on VoIP Providers so be careful to test this out properly on your environment before.

All that maple syrup has made you silly Kerry, hes on trixbox Pro

I don't have an iPhone to test this, maybe one of our other community members can chime in. Can you SSH into your machine and see the logs, or is this blocked on the PBXTRA you have? It does make outbound calls right? This would mean registration is successful...

Try it on WiFi does it make a difference?

    LOL nice one Michael!
I can make outbound calls, It works great. Its just that when any other extension call it back it goes right to VM.
I might have to toss in some maple sugar candies?
Michael are you in NY or Cali with Kerry?

Can you test on WiFi? This way we can determine if the carrier is blocking the audio.

    I'm in NY with Todd.

It works when I connect to the wifi network that the system is on and point the server to the local IP of the system but when I am on another wifi network or 3g and point to the sXXXXXX.trixbox.fonality.com. Whit those settings it registers and I can make calls and use all the functions but incoming calls go right to VM.

So you have access to lots on maple syrup in the Buffalo area.
