Polycom KIRK Base Station 02440600
Polycom KIRK Base Station 02440600 Summary
Polycom KIRK Base Station
Polycom KIRK Base Station
The KIRK Base Station controls the traffic channels in the air and
works as link between the KIRK Handset and the KIRK Wireless Server.
The KIRK Wireless Server operates the KIRK Base Stations through a
wired standard twisted pair of cables. Only one pair is required per
KIRK Base Station and the cable length may be up to 2.000 meters.
Each
KIRK Base Station covers a circular area of between 50 and 600 metres.
It is not possible to define a more exact size of a KIRK Base Station
coverage area, as it depends on location specifics such as building
materials etc. Before a KIRK solution is installed, careful deployment
is performed in order to define how many KIRK Base Stations are needed
to provide the necessary coverage at each individual location.
Wall- or Ceiling-Mounted
There are two
different versions of the KIRK Base Station hardware; one for mounting
on the wall and another for mounting on the ceiling. The
ceiling-mounted KIRK Base Station are especially useful for the
hospitality and healthcare verticals in which there is often a need to
assure radio coverage in long corridors. This is also the case for
office environments within a wide range of vertical markets. Being able
to place the KIRK Base Station on the ceiling makes it easier and less
expensive to ascertain the needed coverage.
Ceiling-mounting furthermore facilitates the work
involved with assuring radio coverage in large factory buildings as
they can be placed in the middle of the facility where the speech
channels are needed the most, instead of along the walls. The ability
to place the KIRK Base Stations in clusters adds to the assurance of
the needed number of speech channels - exactly where they are needed.
